In an industry first initiative, Plug Me In has partnered with Clade Engineering to launch “Heat as a Service,” a groundbreaking solution set to redefine sustainable heating systems for businesses and public sector organisations.
A comprehensive subscription package, Heat as a Service makes the transition to green energy more accessible for commercial companies, eliminating the need for upfront capital investment and streamlining the installation and maintenance processes. The innovative subscription covers design and installation costs for a commercial-scale heat pump, a monthly rental fee, and ongoing service and maintenance.
Why Heat as a Service?
As businesses navigate the complexities of the modern energy landscape, the need for efficient and eco-friendly heating systems has never been more urgent. While the initial costs often deter organisations from adopting sustainable solutions, “Heat as a Service” offers an innovative service model that removes this financial hurdle.
How Does It Work?
Here’s how the partnership between Plug Me In and Clade Engineering brings “Heat as a Service” to life:
- Design & Installation: Clade Engineering will custom-design and install a commercial-scale air source heat pump system tailored to the specific requirements of the estate.
- Financing: Plug Me In covers the upfront capital costs, allowing business owners to focus on core business.
- Monthly Rental: A simple, monthly rental fee replaces the hefty initial investment, facilitating budget management and financial planning.
- Service and maintenance: Included within the monthly rental is a service and maintenance package, with system performance guaranteed.
Who is it for?
Heat as a Service is designed for businesses and public sector organisations looking to decarbonise buildings within their estate portfolio with a heat demand in excess of [50]kW. This could be a block of flats with a central plant room currently running a gas fired boiler, or a leisure centre currently running a gas fired CHP unit – the applications are extensive and designs can range from 50kW to multimegawatt systems as required.
Final Word
Plug Me In and Clade Engineering are incredibly excited to bring “Heat as a Service” to market.
Investment Director at Plug Me In, Sam Peachman, comments: “This collaboration signifies more than just a product launch; it represents our shared commitment to work alongside businesses and public sector organisations in reaching net-zero carbon emissions. I believe that together, we can pioneer a greener, more sustainable future.”
CMO at Clade, Tim Rook, adds: “This unique and innovative service is the key to unlocking the decarbonisation of heating. At around 40% of the UKs carbon footprint heat is a significant challenge for net zero, heat pumps are the only available, scalable and proven technology to meet this challenge. But, we recognise that capital cost and technology risk are barriers for wide deployment of heat pumps. This service overcomes both those barriers giving peace of mind to the end user. We are really pleased to be partnering with Plug Me In, together we will deliver great value for our customers.”
