This year marks the 20th anniversary of the CIBSE ASHRAE Graduate of the Year Award.

Since its launch in 1995 and first presentation at the CIBSE Conference in Harrogate the following year, it has become the most sought after accolade for young building services engineers.

Andrews Water Heaters is delighted to be a main sponsor of this important event and to help celebrate such an impressive milestone.

This year’s winner will be the 20th to enjoy a fully paid for trip to the ASHRAE Winter Meeting in the US – with Orlando the destination this time. Previous winners have visited Philadelphia, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Atlanta and other major US cities as VIP delegates at ASHRAE Conferences and as international ambassadors for CIBSE.

To mark the occasion, all former winners are being invited to this year’s awards event at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) in London on October 8th. A special reception will be hosted by CIBSE, ASHRAE and the IMechE to honour these high achievers – many of whom have gone on to become leaders in their field and senior industry figures.

As has become customary in recent years, the 2015 Graduate of the Year award will be presented alongside the CIBSE Employer of the Year prizes; and the IMechE Construction and Building Services Division special award. These programmes now comprise the CIBSE Young Engineers’ Awards.

ASHRAE president David Underwood will give the Society’s annual presidential address to the UK industry and the whole event will conclude with dinner in the IMechE Library.

“It is very exciting to be so heavily involved in this most important and well-established initiative for young building services engineers – especially this year,” said Chris Meir, sales director of Andrews Water Heaters. “It is the only award focussed exclusively on showcasing the innovation skills and ideas of the most talented young individuals setting out on their careers in our industry.

“We must increase our efforts to replenish our reservoir of engineering skills within our industry in order to drive the innovative design of both new and existing buildings. The CIBSE Young Engineers’ Awards are a key element in the strategy to promote and celebrate our industry; and to present it as an exciting career opportunity for young people.”
