E.ON is now inviting applications for its degree apprenticeship and apprenticeship programmes and is encouraging those who want to help create a sustainable future to apply.
E.ON’s degree apprenticeship scheme
E.ON’s degree apprenticeship programmes offer successful applicants the opportunity to work full-time, study for a fully funded degree and earn a competitive salary. During the four- or five-year programme, apprentices will work on several placements across the business, aligned to their academic work at university.
E.ON is offering seven different degree apprenticeship schemes, covering a range of skills and interests and aimed at developing the workforce of the future with skills that can be embedded into the workforce today. All roles will be based in Nottingham and the schemes are: Data Scientist, Digital Marketing, Project Management, Digital Technology, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Accountancy & Taxation Professional.
Sarah Farmer, Director of Organisational Development & Engagement, said: “Degree apprenticeships are a fantastic opportunity for people considering their opportunities after school or their future career. Our degree apprentices not only develop the skills needed to succeed in a greener, more sustainable future but they also develop a strong professional network all while attaining a university degree which is fully funded by E.ON.
“Our degree apprenticeship programmes support passionate people to develop the practical skills needed by businesses now and in the future, and to build meaningful careers aligned with their personal aspirations. I’d encourage anyone to consider a degree apprenticeship and explore what it could do for them.”
E.ON’s Lighting & Grid apprenticeship opportunities
E.ON is also inviting applications for apprenticeship roles within its Lighting & Grid business, which installs and maintains efficient street lighting across Britain, keeping our streets well-lit and safe for residents while also connecting homes and industries to sustainable energy sources, supporting cities in their efforts towards decarbonisation.
The engineering apprenticeships offer a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a dynamic team which is focused on delivering flexible and sustainable energy solutions for our customers. At the same time, apprentices will earn the following qualifications over a four-year period:
- Level 2 Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering – Distribution & Transmission
- Level 2 & 3 NVQ Certificates Highways Electrician & Service Operative, Installation & Maintenance
- Power Distribution Engineering Cable Jointing qualifications up to HV (high voltage).
The eight roles are based in local depots in Barnsley, Burton upon Trent, Derby, Hinkley, Northampton, Rochdale, Stoke-on-Trent and Wednesbury. But most of the apprentices’ time will be spent out and about in the community – including public highway and construction sites – learning the technical aspects of the role.
Luke Ellis, Head of Lighting & Grid at E.ON UK, said: “At E.ON, we’re committed to developing the green workforce of tomorrow and so this is a fantastic place to start your engineering career, working in a company and indeed within an industry that is looking ahead to a more sustainable and greener future. My growing team within Lighting & Grid is focused on delivering innovative and efficient solutions that help ensure entire communities are more welcoming and safer as a direct result of our work – and that is a genuine honour.”
