Arjowiggins Creative Papers, owners of famous brands including Conqueror and Rives, has significantly reduced its carbon footprint after cutting its heating consumption by nearly 50% with the help of the Vickers Energy Group energy management system.
With an aim to implement a ‘green mission’ throughout the business, the paper manufacturer and distributor, based in Aberdeen, installed the system in September 2013 and has since seen huge savings in its energy consumption and has dramatically cut the cost of its heating bills.
The advanced system optimises heating temperatures throughout the buildings and uses state of the art technology sensors to monitor temperature; ensuring heating systems are being used efficiently.
The reduction in its heating bills is part of the company’s drive to reduce overall energy consumption across the business. Ten months into the project the overall reduction across the whole site stands at 3,885,468 kWh or 32.40%. The savings equate to planting 68,698 trees.
David Hilton from Vickers Energy said: “Many companies are trying to improve their carbon footprint and energy consumption, due to the increasing cost of energy bills and pressure on businesses to do their part for the environment. We helped Arjowiggins with their energy consumption by installing our system to ensure the optimum temperature for their warehouses is reached efficiently. It’s encouraging to see that our activity was part of a wider scheme across the whole of the company to reduce its overall energy consumption.”
Angus MacSween general manager, ArjoWiggins Stoneywood Mill said: “We are delighted with the performance of, and the savings made by the system. It has been trouble free and gives consistent control of temperature while consuming much less energy.”
Vickers has recently been awarded with the accolades of Energy Product of the Year from the prestigious Environment and Energy Awards 2014, a Gold Green Apple Award within their Energy Saving Category, Green Business of the Year at the Trafford Business Awards and is accredited by the Carbon Trust.
Sustainability is at the heart of the Arjowiggins business and latest innovations include producing eco-sustainable papers for creative application and a new premium 100% recycled paper.
