The hunt is on once again for Britain’s most efficient and sustainable manufacturers. EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, and green energy specialists ENER-G have launched the Environment award category as part of the fifth annual Future Manufacturing Awards with companies eligible to win two prestigious awards at regional and national level.
The EEF/ENER-G Environmental Efficiency award is awarded to the company that has done the most to improve its own environmental performance and improve its carbon footprint whilst improving operational efficiency. Manufacturers should enter this category if they have made changes to their operating procedures to benefit the environment.
The EEF/ENER-G Sustainable Manufacturing award is new to the Future Manufacturing Awards and recognises initiatives to improve sustainability, which could include introducing processes to reduce environmental impact and or delivery of a corporate social responsibility programme. Businesses should enter this category if they have made significant investment of resource and or time to seek a more sustainable future.
The Future Manufacturing Awards are now in the fifth year and are recognised as the UK’s leading awards programme in the manufacturing sector. They offer manufacturers and apprentices from across the UK the opportunity to showcase their achievements across seven different award categories; business growth, people and skills, innovation, export, health and safety, environment and education.
The EEF awards are free to enter and provide many opportunities to win. The awards will be judged in five regions across the UK and regional winners will be announced at celebration events in November. The regional winners will then compete for the national awards at a prestigious ceremony in London in January 2014. Both regional and national winners and runners-up gain high profile publicity for their business, as well as the accolade of winning a prestigious industry award.
EEF Chief Executive Terry Scuoler commented: “The Future Manufacturing Awards has established itself as the biggest and most prestigious event in the manufacturing sector. As a response to the programme’s popularity, I am pleased to announce that we have increased the number of categories and awards so that more of your business units can take part. This is our time to celebrate our manufacturing champions and the young apprentices who are shaping the future, and I challenge all UK manufacturers to step up and submit an entry.”
Derek Duffill, Group Managing Director for ENER-G, which delivers the EEF Energy Service, commented: “Once again we are delighted to support the search for Britain’s greenest and most sustainable manufacturing businesses. We urge businesses to step forward and demonstrate how manufacturers are leading the way on environmental performance.”
The Awards are free to enter and are open now to all UK manufacturers, with a closing date of 19th July 2013. For more information, visit http://www.eef.org.uk/awards
