The largest solar project in Israel, “Ta’anakh”, was launched in a festive ceremony in the Ta’anakh region in the southern Jezreel Valley by renewable energy company Teralight in cooperation with the Moshavim movement, with the participation of the Minister of Environmental Protection Idit Silman.

The giant project, which is initiated and promoted by Teralight company along with the economic company of the Moshavim movement, is considered a national infrastructure project. It is expected to provide electricity for approximately a quarter million Israelis in approximately 63 thousand households. This project will significantly contribute to Israel’s green energy goals as well as boost the local economy. The “Ta’anakh” project is expected to operate with 250 megawatts of installed capacity, which represents 5.2% of Israel’s green energy capacity and 1.2% of its overall electricity capacity. Its total financial volume is estimated at NIS 900 million.

The ceremony was attended by: Teralight CEO Rani Lifshitz and company chairman Yonel Cohen, Menora Mivtachim chairman Eran Griffel and Menora Group CEO Ari Kalman, Shaul Goldstein CEO of Noga Company – Independent System Operator; Israel Land Authority director Yaakov Kwint; CEO of Israel Electric Company Meir Spiegler, Secretary General of the Moshavim Movement Amit Ifrach, Head of the Gilboa Regional Council Oved Nur, and others.

According to Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, MK Israel Katz: “I congratulate Teralight, Moshavim Movement, and the Gilboa Regional Council on the Ta’anakh project, an important solar energy project that will boost the economy of the region while playing a critical role in helping the State of Israel achieve its energy goals. I am pleased to see that the vision I’m leading at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure is becoming a reality. Under my leadership, my primary goal is to promote the development of renewable energy sources, primarily solar and wind power”.

According to Minister of Environmental Protection, Idit Silman: “ “I welcome the completion of the project which will flow clean solar electricity into the high voltage transmission network. This will contribute significantly to increasing production rates from renewable energies, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants in Israel”.

According to Rani Lifshitz, CEO of Teralight: “The Ta’anakh project advances Israel a significant step towards increasing the use of electricity produced from clean solar energy, produced by Blue and White. The practical meaning of 250 megawatts in the Ta’anakh project, on its two parts, is the supply of electricity to about 60 thousand homes in Israel, during the first half of 2024. The project also makes Teralight a leading player in green electricity production and supply in Israel. All in all, we are currently in the process of establishing and towards the establishment of solar projects and storage facilities with a significant volume of approximately 1,000 megawatts and 375 megawatt hours respectively, which are expected to be connected to the grid gradually over the next three years and thus we will be the leading player in Israel”.
