Juice Technology AG, producer of electric charging stations and software and the market leader in portable chargers for electric cars, strides onto the North American marketplace with its portable 2-in-1 wallbox charger: the J+ BOOSTER 2.

Simply take your wallbox with you on the road, and charge your e-car from any conventional power socket-outlet. Juice Technology can now deliver on its promise in the United States, Canada and Mexico with a version of its portable JUICE BOOSTER 2 charging station specially developed for North American power grids. Christoph Erni, founder and CEO of Juice Technology AG, is staunchly confident: “Our Swiss army knife of e-car charging technology makes any concerns about vehicle range a thing of the past – even on the North American continent. After all, electricity is available everywhere: you just have to make it accessible.” This Swiss technology company, firmly established in the industry for almost eight years now, scores with expertise and proven Swiss quality.

Designed and certified for all North American power grids

In contrast to Europe’s three-phase power grid, grids on the American continent are only single-phase, and connections can vary in their voltage and amperage. The new J+ BOOSTER 2 takes this all into account. The familiar, rugged cylindrical aluminium housing contains a newly developed innovation optimised for electric currents of 110 volts and up to 40 amps. The accessory assortment includes eight coded NEMQERYRYTA adapter plugs that easily attach to the tried and proven plug connector.

The exterior of the North American J+ BOOSTER 2 differs from its European equivalent in that the CONNECTOR is attached directly at the device. What’s more, electric vehicles in the United States use a Type-1 plug for charging. The requirements dictated by standards in the North American market exceed even European safety regulations. Full compliance must be verified by an independent authorized inspection body in every detail. The J+ BOOSTER 2 passed its testing procedure with flying colours and has been awarded UL certification.

Used worldwide

Portable charging stations enable drivers to charge their electric cars wherever they park habitually for extended periods of time – during the day at the workplace, or nights at home. So they compensate for the irregular spatial distribution of charging infrastructure, and facilitate the switch from the internal combustion engine to electric vehicles. Ever wider use of portable wallbox chargers makes the transition to electric mobility fast, flexible and economical.

The JUICE BOOSTER 2, the world’s top-selling portable wallbox charger, has now been specially adapted to the North American power grid. Certified by the independent testing and certification organisation UL, it fully meets all applicable standards.

The essential benefits of the J+ BOOSTER 2 in a nutshell:

  1. This versatile charging station enables electric cars to charge from any conventional household or industrial socket-outlet throughout North America.
  2. The power input options cover all supply current variants, either 120 V or 240 V, and from 6 to 40 amps.
  3. The charging device comes with eight adapters compliant with the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards, all equipped for automatic detection of socket input current, and four of which are fitted with the JUICE CELSIUS proactive temperature monitoring system. The charger is waterproof and dustproof (to protection rating IP 67), can be used in an ambient temperature range of -30°C to +50°C, and is driveover-resistant to wheel loads of up to three tonnes.
  4. UL certification: All electrical devices in the United States and Canada must be safety-certified in accordance with specified national requirements. One authorized testing and certification company is Underwriters Laboratories (UL). UL tests products, components, materials and systems to determine whether they meet specific standards. The J+ BOOSTER 2 has been certified by UL and bears the certification mark UL2594 for electric vehicle (EV) charging devices as well as UL2231-1 and -2 for personal safety in conjunction with EV conductive charging systems in full compliance with the two international standards IEC 62196 and IEC 61851-1 and the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive.
