insys mrxThe new MRX DSL is a highly flexible, modular router suitable for industrial DSL broadband applications. As this smart device can handle VDSL and ADSL telephone connections, it can be used even when the connection is not previously clearified. It’s modular design allows to add one (MRX3) or three (MRX5) extension cards for LTE, local connection to serial devices by RS-232, RS-485 and inputs/outputs (I/Os) or IP connection with a 4-port-switch. For other MRX basic version a VDSL/ADSL extension card is also available. The cards can be almost freely combined, subsequently added or changed. So the MRX DSL router provides a maximum flexibility to the user and is a future-proof investment.

Latest technology

The configuration and start-up of the device is pretty simple with the available wizards. Nevertheless, the MRX allows a variety of additional settings by the user. So it can be fully adapted to the customer needs.

High IT security

Professional routers by INSYS icom emphasise high IT security. The devices offer VPN technology (OpenVPN, IPsec, GRE), possess a firewall with MAC filters as well as additional security functions such as event based messages. The operating system is a hardened Linux environment, reduced to a minimum functionality necessary to drive the router and extended with special functions by INSYS icom.

mrx5 dsl lte mediumIntegrated Linux environment for edge computing

Each MRX router includes a Linux based computing environment for local data processing and connectivity layer based applications. This Linux system is completely independent from the operating system. Several applications can run in parallel in so called containers. This makes the router to a smart device for industrial IoT applications. Using the icom Data Suite software package, customers can capture protocol independent data from different, IP or analogue based periphery, process the data with a variety of functions (e.g. logic or arithemtic), monitor values of these devices, send alarms on occured events via SMS, e-mail or even MQTT and execute control actions on-site.

Providing data to cloud services and other destinations

In addition to this local processing the smart devices by INSYS icom can send eventually pre-processed data to cloud services, SCADA systems or any other customised infrastructure. Local applications can be controlled from the cloud or accessed via a secured connection for remote maintenance purposes. For this INSYS icom also provides an own, easy to handle VPN service as an option.

The MRX series of INSYS icom is a basic element of the INSYS Smart IoT platform, a flexible and highly pre-integrated end-to-end ecosystem, providing all elements for realisation of M2M and IoT applications. It contains all necessary communication elements to gather, provess and provide data from distributed applications quick and easy. This open IoT solution allows both, edge and cloud computing, as well as combinations of both besides data transfer. Customised requests can implemented with low effort and realised quickly.
