Public sector organisations looking to achieve Net Zero can access Powerstar’s Battery Energy Storage consultancy and technology, as Powerstar are named as a supplier on Lot 2 of Crown Commercial Service’s Demand Management and Renewables framework (RM6314).  This includes Battery Energy Storage projects up to £1 million (Lot 2.1) and £1 million plus value projects (Lot 2.2).

As a CCS supplier, Powerstar provide Battery Energy Storage (BESS) expertise across multiple stages of project delivery, from feasibility studies to installation, maintenance, and disposal.  Together, the new Demand Management and Renewables (DMR) and Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) frameworks replace the Heat Network and Electricity Generation Assets (HELGA) DPS agreement to provide effective routes to market for technologies to support public sector decarbonisation.

For organisations implementing Net Zero strategies and looking to reduce energy consumption, Powerstar have long been recognised as a leading UK partner.  They work with NHS Trusts, councils, schools and universities, and public leisure centres to lower energy bills while cutting carbon emissions.

In a difficult economic climate, potential cost savings are critical. CCS supports the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services.  In 2021/22, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits equal to £2.8 billion – supporting world-class public services that offer best value for taxpayers.

Solon Mardapittas, CEO at Powerstar, highlights the benefits of public sector access to BESS solutions via RM6314:

“This new CCS framework is a crucial means for organisations to save time and resources through easy access to energy management experts.  At Powerstar, public sector clients make up a significant and vital part of our client base.  We work with large- and smaller-scale sites to help them reduce costs and make energy savings through BESS technology.  With RM6314, public sector clients can more easily find technologies and solutions to save money, with straightforward purchasing processes designed to facilitate their journey to Net Zero.  Through Lot 2 of this framework, our engineering team at Powerstar look forward to helping more organisations implement BESS technology and reap the many benefits it brings for cost-savings and sustainability.”

Powerstar’s BESS technology is helping numerous public sector clients.  For one NHS Hospital Trust, annual energy cost savings are around £225,000, with a yearly reduction of 190 tonnes of CO2e.  The added benefit of income-generation through grid balancing services can also generate up to £100,000 of new revenue per annum for the Trust.  The cheapest, and greenest, unit of energy is the one you don’t use.  BESS technology is helping organisations work towards greater sustainability while cutting energy bills.  As world-leading BESS designers, manufacturers, and installers, Powerstar look forward to working with more public sector clients as a CCS supplier under the RM6314 framework.
