Voltalis, the European leader in demand response services, and The Electric Heating Company (‘EHC’), one of the foremost suppliers of electric heating and hot water products in the UK, have announced a partnership to equip current and future EHC appliance owners with Voltalis’ cutting-edge technology proven to deliver long-term benefits nationwide.
The first wave of rollouts from this partnership will see approximately 1,100 EHC appliance owners in southern Scotland and London receiving installations of Voltalis’ hardware, delivering more efficient power and better control over their electricity usage. With Voltalis’ technology, which is simple to install and free for the consumer after opting in, EHC appliance owners could save on average, up to 15% on electricity consumption.
The latest in a series of strategic partnerships from the demand response experts, Voltalis’ collaboration with EHC comes at a crucial stage in the UK’s energy conversation, where cost, efficiency and sustainability are top concerns for consumers.
Voltalis’ demand response technology, also known as ‘intelligent demand-side management,’ temporarily modulates electricity consumption in residential and commercial buildings to balance supply and demand. This ensures the power grid’s stability while also increasing the potential for reduced energy costs to the consumer.
Newly installed and retrofitted appliances set to benefit from this accompanying demand response tech include a wide range of EHC products such as electric boilers, electric radiators and heat pumps. Qualified electricians will install Voltalis’ tech directly next to EHC boilers and radiators, whilst heat pumps will benefit from a cloud-to-cloud connection.
This latest partnership marks another step in Voltalis’ broader plan to develop up to 5 GWp of demand response capacity in the UK market by 2030, representing a £1 billion investment plan. Voltalis’ technology is already deployed across Europe, connecting more than 1,500,000 appliances across 250,000 buildings in eight countries.
Dr. Randall Bowen, UK Managing Director of Voltalis, said: “We feel encouraged that UK consumers see value in installing and retrofitting electrical appliances in their residential and commercial buildings for greater energy efficiency, and this strategic partnership with EHC means we can help their appliances work harder and even more efficiently.
“Customers will see not only the benefits of demand response technology in brand-new appliances but will also be able to reap the rewards of retrofitting existing systems. Those in residential and commercial properties will be able to take greater control of their daily electricity usage, which can in turn usher in improved energy savings for all.”
David Barrett, CEO at The Electric Heating Company said: “Our core mission is to deliver quality to customers, who are seeking secure and energy-efficient solutions for their heating. This partnership with Voltalis comes at a crucial time when customers are increasingly seeking solutions to better manage their heating and electricity consumption. With Voltalis’ technology working in tandem with our cutting-edge appliances, customers will have peace of mind not just over their usage but could also benefit from reduced costs thanks to a smarter approach to electricity management.”
