On 13th November, the Energy Institute (EI) held its annual Awards ceremony in London to recognise excellence within the global energy sector. News anchor and broadcaster Huw Edwards hosted the event and presented the winners with their trophies.
This year’s judging was especially difficult with many entries in the competition illustrating the diversity and breadth of the industry. The Innovation award category in particular brought a deadlock among the judges and, for the first time in the EI Awards history, two projects coming from very different sectors of the industry were awarded the prize.

Highly commended honours also went to Altaaqa Global CAT Rental Power for its project in rebuilding a war-torn nation through energy; and Open Energi and Aggregate Industries for their bitumen tanks helping to balance the grid.
As well as commending the energy industry’s achievements, the EI Awards ceremony provided an opportunity for guests to reflect on the contribution the energy sector has made to society over the last 100 years with a short film commissioned by the EI on the occasion of its centenary.
The EI Awards ceremony was held at the Sheraton Park Lane, London. It welcomed representatives from across the global energy sector to celebrate the best of the industry.
