High street fashion brand New Look has selected Rexel UK to supply energy efficient lighting to 600 UK stores.

Rexel UK will upgrade the existing halogen lamps to LED lighting in order to reduce energy consumption and lower maintenance costs. Moving to longer life products means New Look will need to replace them less frequently and reduced heat from light sources will result in air conditioning savings. Rexel estimates sales of £650,000 throughout the life of the project, which is anticipated to deliver return on investment in just 15 months.

As part of the project, Rexel UK will conduct a bespoke asset audit at each site to identify the best approach both to save energy and keep costs down. Establishing accurate asset information will enable Rexel UK to get the right products to sites as efficiently as possible from its widespread network of branches.

Richard White, group property director, New Look, said, “Rexel’s solid experience in this area was clear from day one and the asset audit meant that we could be confident we were installing the best possible products in each of our stores. Rexel’s extensive UK footprint means that inventory could be sourced near our store locations, reducing delivery time and eliminating unnecessary haulage.”

“It’s fantastic to be chosen by such a well known British brand,” added Brian Smithers, business development director, Rexel UK. “We’re looking forward to working with the New Look team to deliver significant energy savings in their 600 high street shops. Reducing energy consumption is increasingly important to New Look and we were able to help them achieve this goal while keeping costs down.”
