As a business dedicated to driving forward the electric vehicle (EV) market, Rexel UK has introduced the new Rolec GroupManager – platform to allow users to effectively manage multiple private electric vehicle charging units. The first of its kind from Rolec, the remote management system is designed to provide full visibility and control across an entire charging network, including off-site units.

An unlimited number of pre-authorised users, such as employees, suppliers and customers, can be quickly setup and managed from one central location, with nifty key fobs available for users to easily activate the charging point when required. On the flip-side, the easy to use system also means users can be quickly disabled from the network.

The platform offers live data reporting for charging point usage, which is a particularly helpful monitoring tool for large organisations looking at fleet electric vehicle use and overall operational energy costs. Another key feature is the electricity load balancing system, designed to manage and co-ordinate incoming electricity supplies when the collective charging point potential exceeds the electricity supply available.

Steve Everard at Rexel UK comments: “As more businesses get on board with the benefits of electric vehicles as part of their company fleet, charging points are going to become an essential upgrade for any building owner. However with this comes a need for businesses to be able to effectively manage and monitor the units, as well as sustaining the electricity supply for charging.

“Rolec’s GroupManager is an effective tool, which can help change the way businesses utilise their EV charging infrastructure. The system is flexible and can be customised to suit each individual location and customer requirement, and even enables users to set their own tariffs for billing. Importantly, the platform allows businesses to immediately identify any operational failures with charging points, power outages or security alerts.”

The system incorporates a bank level security payment system, utilising a roaming GPRS signal that is compatible with all networks – searching for the strongest available signal at charging point location. Plus the software can be easily updated remotely, all while ensuring effective data backup.
