This new collaboration combines Solid Energy’s very high temperature heat pump technology with Clayton’s industrial steam generation expertise, representing an important step in efforts to decarbonise industrial process heat.
Steam still powers large parts of the world’s industry with most plants fired by gas or oil. The new partnership will target those applications with an electric solution capable of delivering the high temperatures needed.
Solid Energy will provide its heat pump technology for integration with a Clayton steam generation module. The company’s existing high temperature heat pumps can deliver flow temperatures of up to 165°C, with the new steam solution building on the same compressor technology and control architecture.
