15% energy from renewables: That’s the ambitious goal set by Great Britain for the expansion of alternative resources, and EnviTec Biogas is leading the way with five new committed customers. A total of three customers have each signed a contract for the construction of a 499 kW biogas plant; two further customers were won over by the gas upgrading technology.

Despite heavy competition, the customers decided in favour of EnviTec Biogas. Customers were won over in particular by its established range of on-site services, the option of complete project management, as well as a wealth of international EnviTec references. As Roel Slotman, Chief Commercial Officer at EnviTec Biogas AG explained: “This sales success confirms the strategy we’ve pursued until now of achieving recognition for our innovative plant technology abroad as well as at home.”

The biogas all-rounder from Lower Saxony already proved its expertise in Great Britain in the southern English county of Wiltshire, where Stowell Farm, owned by farmer Gavin Davies, has become the flagship project for an entire region. The 499 kW EnviTec biogas plant reports an annual average capacity utilisation of 95%. “Right now, it’s even at 99.1%”, said Davies.

The British government is promoting the expansion of regenerative energy sources with a total remuneration of 16 pence per kilowatt hour and the “Renewable Heat Incentive – RHI” – and that with sustainable success: “The market on the island is booming, and we are constantly receiving queries about our EnviThan gas upgrading system, but also about our gas-to-grid systems, which the operators of the West Fen Farm in Cambridgeshire have decided on, for example”, said Slotman.

Here, green energy is planned for production as early as this December using the new 350 cubic metre biomethane plant. The future operator of the second contracted biomethane plant – Vertigo Energy – is also already planning on starting gas production at Icknield Farm in Oxfordshire at the end of the year. For the second half of the year, the biogas plant building company also expects to start on the construction of two additional projects for which contracts have already been secured.

EnviTec Biogas is available for its customers on location with a branch office run by a team of five in Rugeley, Staffordshire. Here, the biogas plant building company offers consulting, sales, as well as service and maintenance on behalf of Envitec Biogas Service UK.
